India's Ongoing Test Series Against England

Currently, India is engaged in a five-match Test series with England. Young talent Shubman Gill has made a significant impact by scoring 147 runs in the first innings. In a related event, former Indian Test captain Rohit Sharma, accompanied by his wife Ritika Sejdah, was featured on the inaugural episode of the podcast 'Who's The Boss?' hosted by spin legend Harbhajan Singh and his wife Geeta. During the discussion, when asked about any regrets in his life, Rohit Sharma responded with a smile, indicating that he believes everything in his life was predetermined.

Rohit Sharma's Perspective on Regrets

“I have often been asked about my regrets in life, and I always say I have none. If I reflect on my life from 25 years ago, I can see where I started and where I am now. I feel blessed by God. I never imagined I would achieve so much. Everything that happens is meant to be, and I am content with that,” Rohit shared with a gentle smile.

Rohit Sharma's Retirement Announcement

Rohit Sharma, recognized as one of India's finest and most elegant batters, recently announced his retirement from Test cricket just prior to the announcement of the squad for the England series. This decision followed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) naming a new captain for the longest format of the game, effectively replacing Rohit.

Concerns Over Recent Performance

Over the past year, Sharma's performance has raised some eyebrows. During IPL 2025, he was designated as the 'Impact Player,' which meant he did not secure a spot in the playing XI, despite being the captain of the Mumbai Indians, a team he has led to multiple IPL victories. In IPL 2025, he scored 329 runs, including three half-centuries. However, his performance in Test matches has been particularly concerning, as he managed only 31 runs during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Shubman Gill's Stellar Performance

In the first innings against England, Shubman Gill, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant, each scored centuries in Leeds. India set a formidable total of 471 runs in their first innings, with the last seven batters contributing just 41 runs. Ollie Pope also made headlines with a remarkable century just before the end of Day 2. Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets, including that of the prominent Joe Root.
